Teen Chopped Challenge

July 5 - July 18

Calling all aspiring chefs aged 12-18! Are you ready to show off your top-level culinary know-how? Try our first-ever at-home cooking competition! It’s loosely modeled after “Chopped,” a popular competition series on Food Network, and requires you to use four mystery ingredients in the creation of a beautiful, tasty dish.

Here’s how it works . . .

1. The competition takes place over the course of four weeks. During Weeks 1 & 2, pick up a bag of the mystery ingredients at the library. Supplies will be limited; however, the ingredients will be revealed at the start of Week 3, opening up the competition to those who may wish to purchase the ingredients, themselves.

2. Take the mystery ingredients home and use them (along with whatever else you may choose) to create something that looks and tastes like it could win you a title!

3.  Sometime before the end of Week 4, visit our “Teen Chopped Challenge” site (https://sites.google.com/view/watertowntcc/home) and submit photos of your creation along with a “tweet-length” description (i.e., 160 characters or less).

4. Wait patiently as all submissions face the scrutiny of a panel of local chefs and business owners! The winner (and the judges’ identities) will soon be revealed!

For concerns about allergies, please contact Emily at ekingman@watertownpubliclibrary.org. While she will never reveal the mystery ingredients in advance, she will (if needed) create a bag of ingredients with omissions and a list of allowed substitutions.
