Summer Reading for Teens

June 3 through July 27
For students entering grades 6-12 this fall

Pick up a BINGO card in the teen area and COMPLETE EVERY SQUARE. For each square, fill in a slip; drop it into the BINGO SLIPS WEEKLY PRIZE BOX. Put the completed BINGO card into the BINGO CARD GRAND PRIZE BOX. Begin working on another card...

All slips and completed BINGO cards must be returned to the library by 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27--no exceptions!

Prize drawings will occur the following week. We will notify you if you are a winner.
Afternoon Movies


Friday, June 14 at 1:30 p.m.

Friday, July 19 at 1:30 p.m.

Both films are rated G; call the children's room for titles and running time.

Popcorn and beverages will be served.
Battle of the Books (B.O.B.)

Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m., beginning June 12

For students entering grades 6-12 this fall

Compete with a team of friends or join a group at the library. Sign up at the Children's Room desk by June 10th. If you have a team in mind, indicate that at registration.

B.O.B. Kickoff Event: June 12

Meet to swap books and work on team posters: June 19, 26; July 3, 10

Watertown Tournament: July 17 (until 5:00)

Winning team practice: July 24

Watertown's winning team will match wits and book expertise against students from the Jefferson, Fort Atkinson, Whitewater, West Bend, Waterloo, and Hartford public libraries at the Hartford Public Library on Wednesday, July 31, at 2:00 p.m.
Books & Brownies

Every second Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Book discussion for students in grade 6 and up, accompanied by beautiful brownies and refreshing beverages.


July 9: The Book Thief by Markus Zusack

Be sure to put each title on hold and read it beforehand!

Advance registration helps with planning; sign the clipboard in the Teen area.

Family Night at Horicon Marsh

Join library families from Dodge, Jefferson, and Washington counties for this special night at America's largest inland freshwater marsh--right in our backyard!

We'll have nature walks, pond dipping, crafts, stargazing (weather permitting, of course), snacks, movies, stories, and more!

Mock Trial: Fairy Tale Version

Back by popular demand!

Ever wondered what happens in an American court room? Watch members of the Wisconsin State Public Defenders Office make a case for and against the accused. Audience members will act as the jury to determine guilt or innocence.

This year's case: The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Strategy Games

Thursdays from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
June 20 and July 18

Do you enjoy playing chess? How about Risk? Monopoly? Settlers of Catan? Any other game that involves thinking ahead and planning your next move? Join us!

Bring along your favorite game, while keeping in mind that you and the others may prefer something else that day.

The Youth Advisory Committee is for students in grades 6-12 who want to guide planning for teen services at the Watertown Public Library. Would you like to help decide what programs and books the library should offer for the teen department? Do you need volunteer hours? Join us! Snacks provided, of course!
Young Adults After Hours (YAAH!)

YAAH! is a program designed especially for middle and high school students. Events usually take place on Fridays from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the library.

Have you listened to a good book lately? The Watertown Public Library recently added an exciting new item called Playaway to our teen collection.
A Playaway is a self-playing digital audio book, small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
The self-contained units require a AAA battery and a standard set of earbuds(not supplied by the library). Stop in the teen area and check out these new items!
