2011 Friends’ Annual Author Dinner
The Friends of the Library are excited to announce that nationally known Wisconsin author Jacquelyn Mitchard will be the guest speaker for the 2011 Friends’ Annual Author Dinner.

This year the dinner will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 6 at Windwood of Watertown.

Ms. Mitchard’s new book, Second Nature, will be released on September 6 but, she has an extensive body of work which began with her first novel, The Deep End of the Ocean. The Deep End of the Ocean was chosen as the first novel in the book club made famous by Oprah Winfrey, and was later transformed into a feature film produced by and starring Michelle Pfeiffer.

Her other works of adult fiction include; No Time to Wave Goodbye, Still Summer, Cage of Stars, The Breakdown Lane, A Theory of Relativity, Christmas Present, Twelve Times Blessed, and The Most Watched.

Her children’s books include; Ready, Set, School!, Rosalie, Starring Prima and Baby Bat’s Lulluaby. Ms Mitchard has also written five books for young adults. These titles include Watching for Me at Midnight, Look Both Ways, The Midnight Twins, All We Know of Heaven, and Now You See Her.

A native of the west side of Chicago, she is the daughter of a plumber and a mom who worked at the five and dime, but also rode the rodeo and was as beautiful as a Hollywood movie star. Her favorite color is periwinkle blue; her favorite holiday is Halloween; her favorite flower is freesia; her favorite word is "smite," and her second favorite is "Massachusetts"; her lucky number is 119 (anyone who can guess where that comes from wins a pair of startlingly cool earrings or a University of Wisconsin ball cap). Jacquelyn and her family live in a big Italianate house built by Mitchard’s husband on Story Hill in south central Wisconsin.

Tickets are $20.00
